Virtually Pain Free Dental Care...

We know that many patients are apprehensive about receiving dental care. At Dr. Yaremko's, we pride ourselves on our ability to make each patient as comfortable and relaxed as possible while receiving care.

First, we listen to your concerns. We then discuss different methods for making you as comfortable as possible. Together, we lay out a treatment plan that will meet your needs. We have several options:

1. Dental Fear Counseling

Dr. Yaremko and staff can work with you to teach you relaxation techniques, such as self-hypnosis to make your dental appointments more comfortable.

2. Distraction Techniques

You can listen to headphones, use the massage pad on the chairs, or watch a movie in a movie goggle. Dr. Yaremko's patients find having something else to focus on quite relaxing.

3. Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Many of Dr. Yaremko's patients choose to use this relaxing gas breathed in through a nasal mask. Patients can drive themselves to and from appointments when using this.

4. Oral (Pill) Sedation

A number of Dr. Yaremko's patients are prescribed valium to take prior to their appointments. This is even more relaxing than the nitrous oxide, however an escort is required and a day off of work. An alternative form of pill sedation is to take a sequence of small pills while being carefully monitored. These pills will make you very relaxed (from snoozing to asleep).

5. Intravenous Sedation/General Anesthesia

For some of Dr. Yaremko's patients who feel they wish to be extremely sedated or asleep (like a hospital setting), he will work with an anesthesiology specialist, usually in the office setting.

6. Dr. Yaremko's Famous Virtually Painless Injection

Most of our patients never know they have received an injection. That's because of Dr. Yaremko's famous virtually "Painless Injection" technique. A topical anesthetic is applied to the tissue with a swab. This anesthetic painlessly numbs the spot where the doctor will give you one of the most gentle injections.

7. Local Anesthetic For Pain Free Care

Injectable anesthetics, such as Lidocaine, prevent pain in a specific area of your mouth during treatment by blocking the nerves that sense or transmit pain and numbing mouth tissues.

They cause the temporary numbness often referred to as a "fat lip" feeling. Injectable anesthetics may be used in such procedures as filling cavities, preparing teeth for crowns or treating gum disease.

Dr. Yaremko also has special syringes to anesthetize areas where some people have had a previous history of having problems getting numb

8. Post-Treatment Comfort

We want you to be as comfortable as possible after your care. For simple procedures we make recommendations for over the counter medications. For more involved procedures a narcotic analgesic may be prescribed for your comfort.

Don't Forget to Floss!

Clean between teeth daily with floss or an interdental cleaner. Decay-causing bacteria can hid between teeth where toothbrush bristles can't reach. Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between teeth and under the gum line.

Visit Our Office Regularly!

Take good care of your smile. Remember to visit the dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral exams.

Mouthwash Is Important, Too!

Brushing and flossing may not be enough. The ADA now recommends using an antimicrobial mouthwash to reduce plaque and prevent gingivitis.
